天空本是鸟儿翱翔的乐园，却因为烟囱失去蔚蓝；大海本是鱼儿畅游的天堂，却因为污水失去光泽；地球本是人类生存的家园，却因为污染失去绿色。大自然是人类的摇篮，过去的祖祖辈辈依靠他生存，将来的子子孙孙依然离不开她。随着人们生活水平的不断提高，我们的地球母亲却不断地遭到伤害。

1943年7月美国洛杉矶发生了严重的烟雾污染事件，空气中弥漫着浅蓝色的带有刺鼻气味的浓烟；1953年12月，由于燃煤过度，伦敦被浓雾笼罩持续了5天，4000多人因此发病死亡；由于当地炼锌厂长期向河水中排放含镉废水，1955-1977年日本富山县流行了一种骨骼癌症；还有全球荒漠化的面积已经达到3600万平方公里，占到整个地球陆地面积的四分之一，约9亿人正在受到荒漠化的摧残和威胁。再看看我们的身边，因为雾霾，多少人带起了口罩，多少个冬日失去了暖阳。我们不能再无动于衷，坐等下去了。毕竟世界上不会发生奇迹，也不会有亘古永存的美好，我们要行动起来，尽自己所能的去保护环境，保护我们赖以生存的家园!

也许你会说，我只是一个普通的学生，怎么可能实现这样伟大的目标？请你不要忽视自己的力量，因为如果有行动你将会是无数个环保战士中的一员，只要你愿意，无论何时何地你都可以为环保贡献自己的一份力量。在用水时，多多思考一下，怎样才能把水充分地、循环地利用起来，杜绝长流水；在离开教室时，随手关灯，节约用电，拒绝长明灯；在外出游玩时，不乱扔垃圾，不破坏环境；在每年植树节时，哪怕是种一棵小树，也能为世界增添一抹绿色；与家人出行时，尽量少开私家车，可以选择乘公交、地铁等公共交通工具，或是选择骑车、步行等绿色出行方式。少用一次性餐具，少用塑料袋等等……

在日常生活中，我们其实有很多机会去保护环境，点滴小事的积累必能汇成河流。所以，同学们请在日常生活中加强自身的环保意识，向身边的人宣传环保知识，普及环保的重要性，相信这样，会有更多的人加入我们。如果我们都为还地球一片净土而努力，相信不久的将来穹顶之下将会重现蓝天白云、鸟语花香！

Dear teachers and schoolmates:

Good morning!

Nature raised our ancestors, and our descendants can’t live without it in the future. To protect the environment and nature is to protect ourselves. Nowadays, however, with the development of science and technology. It seems that we have forgotten to pay attention to the environment for a long time. Here are several examples as followed.

In 1943, many people got sick which was caused by burning too much gasoline inLos Angeles. In 1952, a terrible pollution killed 4000 people during only five days inLondon. What’s worse, in 1955, a place ofJapansuffered from a kind of strange disease prevalently. Afterwards, an investigation found that the main problem as that a factory discharged waste water into the sea.

These events show that our environment has been damaged seriously. So we should do something for our environment, for our earth. Every one of us has responsibility to protect it. Nobody should be indifferent. Let’s do something in person from now on. For example, we can save daily water. We could also ride bicycles to school instead of driving cars. We appeal for people to plant more trees on each Tree Planting Day. We can use fewer plastic bags or just refuse to use them….Besides, we can learn more environmental protection knowledge in our daily life. Now, everybody! Take action to protect our nature! If we do so, I believe, we will have a pure world one day!
